In Dreams - The Roy Orbison Story
The Events Centre Caloundra
2pm

Be prepared for goose bumps - Get ready to be entertained - Marcel Riesco sounds uncannily like Orbisonť. These are just a few of the media comments following Riescos performances. Reiscos credentials are significant. His performances include: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute week to Roy Orbison where he performed all of Roy’s hit sharing the bill with The Crickets (Buddy Holly’s band), Raul Malo (The Mavericks), Glen Campbell, Billy Burnette (Rockabilly legend Johnny Burnette’s nephew) and more.

He performed at the Roy Orbison Award Celebration in which Roy’s wife Barbara received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Roy. Again in Wink Texas at the 20th Annual Roy Orbison Festival, sharing the bill with Wesley Orbison (Roy’s oldest son).

Now for the very first time Australian audiences can experience the magic of Orbisons music from his early Rockabilly roots at Sun records in the fifties through the sixties, seventies and into the Travelling Wilburys era in the eighties.

Bringing a new twist to the performances is wordsmith Noel Sheridan who segues between the musical content with an interesting narrative of information and history of the Roy Orbison story. Supported by his 5-pce band and special guest Artist Marcel Riesco brings a true Live on Stage performance that is sure to have the audience Crying out for more.

WEEK 4

Wed 23 Nov to Sat 31 Dec 2011
Christmas Tree Trail
Various venues - Sunshine Coast Communities

Council’s annual Christmas Tree Trail is bigger and better than ever and the community is invited to celebrate the official launch of the festive season on Wednesday 23 November at Mooloolaba.

These are not your average Christmas trees - they range in size and species - from fabulous Figs to pretty Paperbarks, and each will have a unique set of dazzling decorations.

The trail began two years ago when council spoke with Sunshine Coast communities about how they celebrate Christmas and what they’d like to see in their region to mark the occasion. Resoundingly, locals asked for Christmas trees to be displayed in places where everyone could enjoy them.

Environmentally friendly Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting features across all of the trees, keeping with council’s vision for the Sunshine Coast to be Australia’s most sustainable region - vibrant, green and diverse.

And for the first time, council will use new scan-code technology to enable passersby to download the story behind the tree with a simple swipe of their iphones and smart phones.
