WEEK 2

Fri 11 Oct
Arj Barker
The Events Centre
Caloundra
18+ only event
8pm

Since his last Australian tour in 2011, Arj has been touring constantly, both solo and with his old pals, The Flight of The Conchords. He returns to Australia with his brand new show, Go Time. According to Arj, Go Time is both what audiences expect from me AND the last thing they expect from me, which if my calculations are correct, will make for a great show.€?

Arj Barker is arguably Australia’s favourite American comedian. In recent years, he has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves. His stand-up is both insightful and pointed, like a mind-reading thumb tack, if there was one of those.

A true alchemist who takes observations and transmutes them into comedy gold
- Independent on Sunday, London
Slick, talented & completely in control - Scotland Times
If comedians are the new rock stars, then Arj Barker is stand-up’s Dave Grohl - The Age

Fluff
A Zany Fun Show for the whole family!
Lake Kawana Centre
All tickets $15 each or Group 4 (min 2 children) $55

Do you love toys?
Have you ever wondered where lost toys go?

Fluff, a delightful story of what happened to a group of mismatched hand-€?made toys that have unfortunately been lost by the people who cherished them most -but found again by the caring and sweetly nutty Gingham family.

Master of eccentricity and mistress of comedy, Christine Johnston has created a delightful show along with dancer Lisa O’Neill and electronica musician Peter Nelson, which touches the hearts of children and their adults.
Enjoy a mix of physical comedy, playful dance, music, voice and whimsical characters playing with old and new technology - and fall in love with the 10 toy stars as we see why they came to be lost, before being welcomed into the Gingham’s colourful home.

Meet Fluff who was dropped under the couch then sucked up by the vacuum cleaner, Squibbly who was abandoned in the gutter by the family dog, and the Disco Frog who got caught in a ceiling fan.
This is a simple, joyful and humorous tale for children, told with a twist!

Disco: The Vinyl Solution
Nambour Civic Centre
7.30pm

Hilarious, informed, and scathing, Disco is basically the ’An Inconvenient Truth’ of electronic dance music. Disco elegantly and articulately concludes that the world’s been going to hell in a handbasket since we stopped touching each other on the dance floor.

Disco: The Vinyl Solution is a 70 minute, biting, Stand-up/physical comedy show with a serious core. It's the sister show to Fiona's previous award-winning show, The Needle and the Damage Done. Fiona Scott-Norman is a Melbourne based comedian, satirist, broadcaster and DJ, whose first solo show toured to over 70 regional Australian centres and venues, from the Sydney Opera House to Alice Springs and Bernie.

Directed by Tim Ferguson (ex-Doug Anthony Allstars and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush), Disco is fearless and funny.  If you think modern music is 'rubbish', but don't want to say it out loud for fear of sounding 'old', this show is for you.
Warning: Uses words of more than two syllables.

Adult $35 / Concession & Group 8+ $30 / 25cap 25yrs & under $20 / Subscription $25

Day for Daniel
Australia Wide
Our National Day of Action Keeping Children Safe

You are invited to join with us in a day which focuses on Child Safety Awareness.

Now in its 9th year, Day for Daniel continues to grow on a National scale and is recognised as Australia’s largest participation event of its type.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in 2005 by Denise and Bruce Morcombe following the tragic abduction and suspected murder of their 13 year old son Daniel in December 2003.

To promote the Foundation’s aims of making the world a safer place for our children, an annual awareness Day for Daniel is held, involving schools and local communities. In 2012 up to 500,000 school aged children are expected to participate on a local level.

A variety of activities are suggested and these range from:
a talk about internet safety in class, a presentation by a school-based police officer
completing an interactive educational program like Being Safety Smart€?
watching our DVD titled Foundation Red
or participate in a Community Walk.
These education activities are designed to provide life skills for children in a fun
and informative manner without the fear factor.

We encourage that a red flavour be incorporated in the day - a colour which links Daniel’s story in a discreet
way to the importance of Child Safety Education.

Day for Daniel is not a memorial day - it is a learning day for our Children.

So write in RED, draw & colour-in in RED, wear RED, display a RED ribbon, fly a RED balloon, eat RED food, have a RED morning tea & yes, you can drink RED cordial today!

Please support this initiative.
